harness yourself

The Zana Bayne Spring 2011 collection shows just how this intriguing accessory can be used in everyday outfits, giving them a rather dark and sexual twist. We admire Bayne bringing the Goth look into the mainstream habit these days!

to dye for

Kalen and Astrid from Brooklyn - based brand Upstate make garments utilizing their own take on shibori and dip dyeing. Each item, from scarves, handkerchiefs and vests, is hand dyed and one of a kind. This season upstate is presenting pieces that take on more creative and multi-functional shapes!

*Shibori is a Japanese tradition of dyeing cloth using several different methods of binding, folding, or compressing the fabric. Small changes in the combinations of binding and dyeing create an endless array of patterns and textures.

NYC-based designer, Mara Hoffman has already cornered the market on eye-catching swimsuits and kaleidoscopic ready-to-wear summer items. Now she's taking it to the extreme on bags, applying her signature tribal meets psychedelic prints to roomy canvas and leather carry-alls!

catch the wind

Cloak queen Lindsey Thornburg teams up with dreamy photographer Olivia Malone for her new SS 2011 lookbook, proving once again that Lindsey can do no wrong (except make us cry with her beautiful clothes that we can't afford).  We love how she's adapted her famous cloaks for spring and summer in luxe, light fabrics like silk velvets, meshes, burlaps, linens, and ikats -- perfect for catching the breeze on those warm desert nights.

Love,
Tess
