our house

Spending the long weekend cleaning house and tending to some much neglected errands. The new room is finally put together -- remember this post way back when? I've traded in my old room (best described as crazy cat lady meets Rosemary's Baby) for a more Americana vibe, with flags, skulls, horses, Native American textiles, and a cowhide rug. Of course, I couldn't help throwing in a little Christian kitsch for good measure. While I'm digging the way the room is looking so far, to me a room is always a work in progress. Who knows what strange and amazing treasures next week's flea market might bring?

road warriors

This weekend, the boyf and I packed up and drove out to San Jose on a pilgrimage to see The Purple One. On the way, we spent the night in San Francisco, scoring some amazing vintage finds on Haight, driving down the crookedest street in the world, and pigging out on Dim Sum in Chinatown. The next night, we headed down to San Jose, where we visited the famously haunted Winchester mystery house, and Prince rocked it as always. After paying our respects at the James Dean memorial in Cholame (a town literally consisting only of a coffee shop) we made our way back down the coast to sunny LA. Here's a tiny peek at our California coast tour, taken on my new Fuji instant camera (Thank you Andrea!!!) -- can't wait to hit the road again soon and explore some more strange and amazing places.

can't get enough of voodoo

This weekend, I got schooled in the art of fashion blogging by my amazing friend Mckenzie of The Fitting. After scoring some awesome jewels at the Fairfax flea market, we wandered down Melrose and visited some friends at my favorite store The Wasteland, which still blows my mind after all these years with the incredible finds they get in on the daily. Onward into the Future jewelry? Rick Owens sweaters? Stylestalker??? I mean, wait, just kidding, don't go in there and buy them, because they will all be mine!

I'm wearing a dress from The Reformation, vintage Frye boots, my favorite En Shalla purse, sunglasses from Squaresville, a Han Cholo arrow bangle, and my own skull necklace.

truth or dare

The number one thing we love about Chrissie Miller is the edgy trueness she brings to her line, SOPHOMORE.  She's recently created a video lookbook for her latest collection along with filmmaker Cass Bird that explores the age-old game of Truth or Dare. Actress Chloe Sevigny, Jen Brill, Lesley Arfin and more take part, revealing their secret fears and lusts. Click here to view!

deep in my heart there's a house that can hold just about all of yous

A few snapshots of some of my favorite moments of the past couple weeks -- talking ghosts and Justin Bieber at Brent's no reason party, a psychedelic cowboy concert at 6th Street warehouse, and sweet potato fries with my Berlin-bound bff Gabi.

in with the old, in with the new

What better way to start a new year than with a brand new blog and some of my oldest friends?
