pleasurable platforms

Void of Course launched their second collection of Impossibility of Love for A/W 2011.

The sexual collection of womenswear and menswear have formed sex toys for heels! Whether or not you are a fan of Gaga, we give her props for showing off these works of art on American Idol.

tribal lullaby

Julian Louie is part of a new crop of New York fashion designers on the rise. He has been one to watch ever since he mentored with Francisco Cosa, the creative director at Calvin Klein. Any day this month, Aldo will debut his gorgeous line of patterned wedges made from patchwork suede and contrasting tribal prints in cotton ikat. Inspired by the adornment and collage found on South African street performers' costumes, they contrast beautifully. We couldn't be more in love. We recommend avoiding the post-mall headache, but risk a sell out when they drop online!

negative creep

This might sound strange coming from a girl who prefers fringe and fur to pinups and pompadours, but I've always thought that, given another chance, it would be pretty awesome to be psychobilly in another life. I've been enamored with creepers (or actually the idea of creepers) for a good while now, but for some reason could never seem to pull them off without looking like I just stepped out of Hot Topic. Thankfully, Burberry Prorsum debuted a new high fashion version of our favorite psychobilly staple as part of their Fall 2011 collection, creating the perfect punky platform that we could totally rock, even in this lifetime. That weird furry cowprint newsboy hat, however... um, not so much.

strutter

Gabriella Marina Gonzalez's shoes are probably my favorites ever ever of all time ever -- kinda like KISS meets Bride of Frankenstein, which is obviously a very good thing. I've been trying to track these beauties down for quite some time now after seeing pictures of them pop up in cyberspace over and over with no indication of their glorious maker. Thanks to the babes of BleachBlack, I've been (virtually) united with my one true shoe love, which ironically has only gotten me even further from them in reality. The whole GMG line seems very mysterious and appears to only be available at one shop in London, which explains why these took so long to find and of course only makes me want them more. I guess playing hard to get really does work!

blue suede shoes

You know how blue jeans go with everything even though they're, obviously, blue? Well the new  Margot 3s by Opening Ceremony are kinda like that. Just like our favorite jeans, we wanna wear these day and night, all year round, dressed up and down with just about everything in our closets. Forget basic black, its all about the basic blues.

high-er than heaven

"No ChloĆ« Collection would be complete without an array of instant-hit, higher-than-heaven shoes. For the pre-spring 2011 season, we meet the marys--a cast of charismatic, perfectly exaggerated platforms with something we can only describe as hypnotic, neo-nostalgic appeal. Tall, elegant, tough, and sexy, the half-ballet half-boot mary anne has the kind of character that's both universal and unique, classic and dynamic."

get a grip

We went to our favorite store Dog and Pony here on Guadalupe in Austin this past week and discovered a new shoe brand named Osborn Shoes. All the materials for each shoe are individually hand-cut and assembled by hand. Osborn's vertically integrated manufacturing practice establishes a work environment that is sweat-shop free and each shoe is signed by its maker, as a testament to the sense of pride for the maker, as well as its wearer. Their price points are right in the middle, ranging from $70 - $175 - we think Nancy Sinatra would agree since these boots are made for walkin'.

P.S. - Ladies and Gentlemen, Valentines Day is exactly one week away. With that said, a nice pair of Osborn Shoes would be the perfect gift esp. to sport out this summer.

like disco lemonade

Ferragamo's "Rainbow" Platform vs. Jeffrey Campbell's "Salvatore"
J. Cams, once again you are almost as good as a time machine. Maybe I'll at least have a chance at owning these the second time around since, you know, at least I'm alive now. Sometimes dreams really do come true!
